Our Services

We offer translation and interpreting services for companies. Since this concerns a wide range of services, if you run your mouse over the individual terms in the column to the right, we will provide you with a short description of each. Click on a term to go to a new page containing more detailed information.

Translation is our core service. A good translation requires professionally-trained translators who translate into their native language. These translators must have good technical knowledge in the customer area and preferably live in the target country.
This means that a considerable proportion of our service concerns selecting, checking, providing further training for and supporting our internal and external translators.
Translation

Localization is "Translation Plus". For example, if you want to sell a PC program in a country that has a different language, other steps must be taken in addition to the actual translation.Localization

To internationalize (I18N) a program or a website is to ensure that it can be assigned to the target language and will function in the same way as when it is in the original language. Typical problematic areas are special characters (such as umlauts), other writing systems (for example, Cyrillic writing system for Russian), writing systems that run from right to left (for example, Arabic and Hebrew) or even Chinese or Japanese writing systems that each only require 2 bytes to be displayed. In addition, there are date formats, address formats and time formats, as well as sort sequences. All of these aspects, as well as a few others, must be considered before you can start the actual translation.Internationalization

Engineering combines all of the technical steps that are necessary before, during and after the translation in order to extract the text that is to be translated from the program or website, to synchronize between any different parts and to restore these aspects at the end of the process. Today, a large part of these technical tasks is performed automatically by the Translation Memory and by other translation tools.Engineering

The actual translation in localization differs from "normal" translation only by the fact that very careful attention must be paid to ensuring that the translations are consistent in the individual program areas, help areas and documentation areas.Translation

The translator works almost exclusively in a Translation Memory environment, which filters out almost all of the information regarding formatting before the translation and then reinserts this information after the translation. This may lead to, amongst other things, displacements due to the changes in text lengths. To ensure that the translation is in perfect harmony with the original text, a specialist must rework the layout of the translation in its original format (MS Word, Adobe InDesign, Adobe FrameMaker and so on).Layouting

Websites, computer-based learning programs and marketing materials use an increasing number of films and animations along with spoken text. This must not only be translated but must be synchronized with the image and the voices. For this reason, we work closely with a nearby professional recording studio.Audio

After localization, programs, films and animations must function in exactly the same way as the original. Therefore, the translated version must be tested, not only to ensure that it functions correctly, but also to ensure that it can be understood (in other words, linguistic quality).Linguistic testing

Interpreters and translators are usually lumped together. However, in reality, these are different fields of work. A good translator does not necessarily make a good interpreter, and vice versa. For this reason, to provide our customers with the best level of service, we have selected and tested specialized personnel for consecutive, simultaneous and liaison interpreting. Interpreting

Tools are only as good as the people using them. Experience and continuous training are required to keep up with technical developments. Important tools for companies like ours include translation memories, terminology management, workflow, data exchange and MT. Tools

For 40 years, machine translation (MT) has been "on the verge of making translators superfluous". This is nonsense! But MT can be a very useful tool that saves costs and time and opens up new opportunities.Machine Translation
